The
Esoterica Series is new for Fall 2007. It comprises 64 pieces on paper.
There are 6 images total numbered like plates in a book and there are
multiples of each image: "Fig 1, The Pendulum", 21 each; "Fig. 2, The
Hieronymous Device", 10 each; "Fig. 3, The Mandelbrot Set", 10 each;
"Fig. 4, The Application", 10 each; "Fig. 5, The Transformation", 10
each; and the largest images," Fig. 6, The Voynich Manuscript", 3 each.
The series is originally based on a the circuit diagram from a
machine called the Hieronymous Device. I've created a shady history of
this machine with this series and have included various symbols and
images from occult and alchemy, mathematics, dowsing devices, cultural
beliefs, death, fear, and the randomness of life. Each art piece
is like a collage of fragments from old manuscripts, complete with
strange diagrams, archaic languages, and hidden information written in
a special code that only a few might understand.
