  diagram series

This current series was started in late July 2005. Each painting includes some kind of grid structure woven and stitched into the canvas surface. Some grids include overlapping circular forms reminiscent of mathematical Venn diagrams, something I was fascinated with after taking a logic course in college. Since the grid structures are dominant in the artwork, the color was kept very simple and either monochromatic or analogous. The space is very flat, 2-dimensional and the over-all feel is of formality. The end results are more like color field paintings and invite the viewer to become immersed in a grid of vibrant color.
